Why don’t my in-app titles appear on my new device?

Trent Paton July 05, 2010

Firstly, IMPORTANT point: If the titles you’re missing were originally purchased directly from iTunes (ie normal  ‘stand-alone’ apps) and you try to ‘re-purchase’ them as in-apps on your new device or vice versa, you WILL be charged. We guarantee it. If you want to know why, read on…

Every iPhone/iPad/iPad Touch, etc, has a unique identifier (UUID) which is what the LP master app 'associates' with you when recognising which titles you own. For (very good) reasons of privacy, we can’t use your iTunes account number to do this. This means that when you install the master app on a new device (a device with a different UUID) anything that you purchased has to be re-loaded.

In general any applications purchased using the same Apple account should only need to be purchased once, provided the app is purchased via the same method (in-app or direct from the app store) as it was originally purchased, if downloaded onto a new device with the same account you should not be charged.  We have had instances where for some reason this has not been the case.  We are sorry that some users are encountering this issue with the Apple app store, if this is you check out the FAQ “I’ve been charged twice for downloading something I’ve already paid for – how do I get my money back?”
