What is a troll?

Community Support March 01, 2011

A troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages with the primary intent of provoking other users into a desired emotional response. Trolls feed off the reactions of their victims because their agenda is to take delight in causing trouble.

Thorn Tree has a zero tolerance policy for trolling. If you think you've spotted one, DON'T FEED IT.

It will embolden them and more will spawn. Ignore and they'll wither.

Because Thorn Tree aims to be an open environment without censorship, it can be hard to define trolling. Harassment often arises in spaces known for their freedom, lack of censure, and experimental nature.

Some members can become so accustomed to trolling they are no longer aware of it, but our newer members tend to be more sensitive and our moderation team is dedicated to working with all of our members to ensure Thorn Tree is a safe place to spend your time.
