The Thorn Tree forum is a space for individual travellers to help each other out with advice about specific travel questions. While recommendations often occur in the context of these discussions, unsolicited reviews as a first post rare, and will commonly be reported as spam by our members (particularly if the review is the first and only post a new member makes).

Commercial advertising of any kind is a breach of our Terms and can result in accounts being terminated. This can include posting a link to a commercial/business website in messages or replies, soliciting business through private messaging, and any other method of drawing community members to services.

Thorn Tree is an extremely busy community, with a new post every 12 seconds and tens of thousands of posts a week. We also remove large volumes of spam.

If you want to share their experiences with a business, we recommend they do so in answer to traveller questions, in context, with as much detail as possible. This will help ensure the review is authentic and of maximum value to our community.

Finally, you can email our Talk2Us team via the Contact Us page, and make suggestions about a great business or service you've encountered that you'd like to recommend for other travellers, and you'd like our authors and editors to know about.

The team read every piece of correspondence and feed this directly back to the relevant people for consideration in the next Lonely Planet edition for that region.
